Along Southern Lines Part 3 (65-mins) | Price £19.75 |
The third in our series of archive films showing the general scenes of the Southern Region in the 1960s with both service trains and enthusiast rail tours. This volume was filmed between 1959 and 1967 and covers railway locations from BASINGSTOKE to MICHELDEVER, EASTLEIGH, FAREHAM, GOSPORT, PORTSMOUTH and the ISLE-OF-WIGHT. Many Southern classes are seen including Lord Nelson 4-6-0s, ex-LSWR T9s, Bulleid Pacifics, USA, L1, M7, E1 and B4 tanks, Q1, N class Moguls and BR Standards. Early preservation scenes of 34023 contrast with previous BR service views. There are even brief scenes of ex-GWR and ex-LMS locos on inter-regional trains. We visit the Mid-Hants railway at Ropley in pre-preservation times with 31768 4-4-0 on a railtour. At Eastleigh there are many scenes dating back as far as 1959 including views inside the Locomotive Works erecting shop. We visit the shed to see the many classes of engines present including LSWR T9 No.120. Eastleigh was the junction for Fareham and Portsmouth and we visit Droxford and Gosport on railtours before arriving at Portsmouth Harbour. Finally we visit the ISLE-OF-WIGHT for extensive coverage of the last O2 tanks on the Southern at work on the Ryde, Newport, Cowes and Ventnor lines, including the last day of steam.
Apart from a few scenes, all the material is in colour and the film has an extensively researched commentary with an authentic sound track.

Volume 119
Steam into Wessex Part 2 (80-mins) | Price £19.75 |
Filmed from 1960 to 1967, we journey from WATERLOO to WEYMOUTH, BASINGSTOKE to SALISBURY, and on to the Somerset and Dorset from TEMPLECOMBE to HIGHBRIDGE and BATH. On the South Western main line we stop off at EASTLEIGH to visit the Works in 1963. There is extensive coverage of the Isle-of-Wight railway system, RYDE to VENTNOR and RYDE to COWES via NEWPORT with passenger and freight.
We visit BOURNEMOUTH and WEYMOUTH with its quayside tramway serving the Channel Islands boats in the early 1960′s. Quite unique is a railtour to the ISLE of PORTLAND and EASTON. There are numerous classes of motive power to be seen, from small Class 02 tanks on the Isle-of-Wight to the Bulleid pacifics with the occasional King Arthur on the way. There are freight types like Maunsell moguls, S15s, 700 0-6-0s, H16, W tanks and the inevitable Standards; S & D 2-8-0, Ivatt tanks and Western Panniers including GWR Dock tanks.
Filmed mainly in colour this video takes a fascinating and nostalgic look back at the steam scene of the 1960s in many locations on the Southern Railway.

Volume 47
Southern Steam Finale Part 3 (60-mins) | Price £19.75 |
This third volume in the story of the end of Southern steam covers events upon the region from April to July 1966 when the sun nearly always shone and came earliest in the south! A variety of steam power was still to be seen and we feature 15 classes of engine. The Waterloo to Weymouth line workings are well covered and this was a time when another section of the Isle of Wight Railway closed, Ventnor to Shanklin. The last runs of the Maunsell moguls occurred with their magnificent finale on the two Longmoor railtours in April. “GORDON” of the Longmoor Railway was at large on the Southern Region, and the last steam engine on the Weymouth tramway put in its appearance. On this day the only Black 5 to work a railtour on Southern metals is seen. This video has full lineside coverage of these events with some footplate scenes and an in depth look at motive power depots like Nine Elms. Locations include Bincombe bank, Basingstoke, Wimbledon, Waterloo, Windsor, Salisbury, Bournemouth and Yeovil, along with Ryde to Ventnor on the Isle of Wight. There is even a trolleybus and a flying P.W. trolley!
